The short version

  • LookupDock is for business use and is in early access. Demo mode works only with published sample values.
  • Use the service lawfully and only for values you have a right to check.
  • Results are signals, not proof. A null field means unknown.
  • When billing opens, credits are monthly, there are no automatic overages, and failed provider checks are free.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

01Who these terms are with

These terms are between you and Administrative Burden Ltd, trading as Modest Ambitions (company number 17363389, registered in England and Wales; registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom). "We" and "us" mean that company.

By creating a workspace or using the API you accept these terms on behalf of the business you represent, and confirm you have authority to do so. LookupDock is for business use only; it is not offered to consumers.

02Early access

LookupDock is in early access. Features may change, and live validation is not yet available. In demo mode the service accepts only the published sample values, returns predefined responses, and makes no live lookups or charges.

03Accounts and keys

  • Keep your password and API keys confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account and keys.
  • Revoke a key promptly if you think it has been exposed, and tell us about any unauthorised use.
  • Give us accurate account details and keep your email address current, because we use it for service notices.

04Acceptable use

You must not:

  • check values you have no lawful basis to process, or use results in a way that breaks data protection, marketing, telecoms or anti-discrimination law;
  • send special category data, data about children, or personal data in URLs;
  • use the service to stalk, harass or surveil individuals, or to decide on someone's eligibility for credit, employment, housing or insurance;
  • resell, sublicense or provide the service to others as a standalone validation product;
  • exceed or evade rate limits, probe or disrupt the service, or try to access other customers' data;
  • scrape the service or use it to build a competing data set.

We may suspend access that breaks these rules or puts the service, our suppliers or other people at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first.

05Results are signals

Checks rely on third-party data and real-time network responses, which can be incomplete or wrong. A null field means unknown. Phone validity does not prove someone will answer. Catch-all, suspect and timed-out email results are uncertain. Network and proxy flags are signals, not findings of fraud. You decide how to act on a result, and you should not rely on a single check for a decision with significant effects on a person.

06Credits and billing

Paid plans are not open yet. When they open:

  • subscriptions are bought through Stripe Checkout, which shows the price, currency and any tax before you pay;
  • each paid billing period grants the plan's credits, shared across phone, email and IP checks;
  • completed checks use credits, including results that show a value is invalid;
  • provider failures and timeouts use no credits;
  • there are no automatic overage charges or top-ups, and unused credits expire at the end of each period;
  • you can cancel or update your payment method in the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.

07Data protection

For values you submit for checking, we act as your processor under the data processing terms, which form part of these terms. Our privacy notice explains how we handle your own account data.

08Third-party suppliers

We use third-party suppliers for hosting, email, payments and validation data, listed in the privacy notice. Their availability and data quality affect the service. We choose them carefully but are not responsible for their independent services, such as Stripe's own terms for payments.

09Intellectual property

We own the service, its software, documentation and design. You keep all rights in the data you submit and may use the results for your internal business purposes. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

10Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted access during early access. We may change features, limits or these terms. For material changes to these terms, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email unless a change is required by law or to address a security risk.

11Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in that period and GBP 100.

12Ending the service

You can stop using the service at any time. To close your workspace and delete its data, email [email protected]. We may end or suspend the service on reasonable notice, or immediately for serious or repeated breaches. Lookup details still expire on the normal seven-day schedule; the data processing terms describe deletion at the end of the service.

13Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem informally.

14Notices

We send notices to your account email address. Send notices to us at [email protected] or by post to our registered office.
